Okay, let me start this off by stating that I KNEW BET would ruin one of my favorite TV shows, The Game. However, I didn’t think it would be that bad; somehow BET never ceases to amaze me.
First of all, the directing is horrible. And so is the writing. Second of all, the characters are just not themselves… if you watched the show before it was on BET, you would understand that the characters are acting, well, out of character.
I decided to give this season a chance, out of curiosity, by watching the first few episodes, but I think my last string was pulled with this past week’s episode. Basically, Melanie was trying to inspire and uplift at-risk teenage girls into becoming powerful, deserving women on career day because she studied to become a doctor. However, one of the sunbeams was a music video girl, and the teenage girls seemed much more interested in her rather than Melanie.
Now, I don’t judge people who do things to get where they need to go in life (to an extent), but this episode was just TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH. I can’t even begin to tell you about all the stereotypes that they tossed into this episode (which, by the way, was never really this bad… it was sometimes racial, but not to the point where it was straight up ignorant). And I do understand that Melanie’s character was a little bit out of line, but how she came off as the annoying/boring one for wanting to try and inspire these young ladies, I don’t understand. I’m just saying there should have been a happy medium between the two, instead of just having Melanie come off as the annoying, uninteresting bad guy.
Ugh, and last week’s episode where the girls were trying to have a serious talk and took off their tops so they wouldn’t be on camera for the reality show? PUH-LEASE. This show actually used to be funny/good…
I’m officially done with it. BET, you do me so wrong.
